Xavier Trust Salesian School

Crays Fire currently maintain the fire alarm systems at thirteen schools for the Xavier Catholic Education Trust.

In 2019 we were tasked with upgrading the existing conventional system in the main building at the Salesian School in Chertsey.

Following close consultations with the school and their fire risk assessor, it was agreed to phase the replacement of the system over a period of three years, to not only replace the existing system on a like for like basis but to also gradually upgrade the coverage of the system.

During the first phase in 2019 we replaced the existing conventional system in the main building with a new addressable fire alarm system, comprising of an Advanced Electronics Pro-4 fire alarm control panel, utilising Hochiki protocol devices. Other buildings on the campus were linked to the system via conventional zone cards.

In the summer of 2020 we extended the new addressable system in the main building into the Sports and Arts block, increasing the coverage to comply with an L3 category of system in that block.

Following the successful installation at the Salesian School, we were then asked to carry out a similar exercise at the Salesian Sixth Form College, also in Chertsey. Having replaced the conventional system in the Main Building originally, with a new addressable fire alarm system, we have extended the system into an additional three buildings this year, as well as a newly built block on site, incorporating a second networked Advanced Electronics fire alarm control panel.
